In him we have redemption(A) through his blood,(B) the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches(C) of God’s grace

For it is by grace(A) you have been saved,(B) through faith(C)—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works,(D) so that no one can boast.(E) 10 For we are God’s handiwork,(F) created(G) in Christ Jesus to do good works,(H) which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Jew and Gentile Reconciled Through Christ

11 Therefore, remember that formerly(I) you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)(J) 12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners(K) to the covenants of the promise,(L) without hope(M) and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once(N) were far away have been brought near(O) by the blood of Christ.(P)

14 For he himself is our peace,(Q) who has made the two groups one(R) and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15 by setting aside in his flesh(S) the law with its commands and regulations.(T) His purpose was to create in himself one(U) new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, 16 and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross,(V) by which he put to death their hostility. 17 He came and preached peace(W) to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.(X) 18 For through him we both have access(Y) to the Father(Z) by one Spirit.(AA)

19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers,(AB) but fellow citizens(AC) with God’s people and also members of his household,(AD) 20 built(AE) on the foundation(AF) of the apostles and prophets,(AG) with Christ Jesus himself(AH) as the chief cornerstone.(AI) 21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple(AJ) in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.(AK)

11 So Christ himself gave(A) the apostles,(B) the prophets,(C) the evangelists,(D) the pastors and teachers,(E) 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ(F) may be built up(G) 13 until we all reach unity(H) in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God(I) and become mature,(J) attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.(K)

14 Then we will no longer be infants,(L) tossed back and forth by the waves,(M) and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.(N) 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love,(O) we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head,(P) that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows(Q) and builds itself up(R) in love,(S) as each part does its work.
